Game #6 @ Upper Arlington Gold
Another exciting game for the Lions. First division game. A 7 run 4th for the Lions broke the game open. But things got hairy in the bottom of the 6th, with darkness setting in (all of the huge houses and fancy cars throughout Upper Arlington and they can not have lights or permanent fences on their fields, a joke). The Lions were up 10-5 and Luke Barber was brought in to close the game. He struggled to find command and a hit batter, a few walks and a double closed the gap to 10-9. They then had the bases loaded and nobody out. It looked real bad for the Lions. Then their batter hit a pop fly to 3rd and an infield fly rule was called and the batter was out. The ball dropped at 3rd and the base coach sent the runner. Cory threw the ball home and that was two outs. Luke struck out the next batter and the Lions escaped with a 10-9 win. Cory Sparks picked up the win, with 3 tremendous innings on the mound. Cameron was 0 for 2 with a sacrifice bunt. The Lions are now 4-2 and 1-0 in the division. I will post pics for this game later. Next up: Grove City tournament, first game Friday against the Westerville Wildcats.

Game #5 vs Olentangy Braves
Another great game for the Lions. What looked like a runaway game, got close and then the Lions opened it back up. Pulling out a 17-10 win, running their record to 3-2 overall. 1-0 in league play. Cameron started going 2 2/3 innings giving up 8 runs (only 2 earned), striking out 5 and only walking 1. He picked up the win, to go to 2-0. He went 1 for 3. Blaine Barringer went deep for the first time also. Monday brings our first division game and our first game on the road at Upper Arlington. Tons of photos below

Game #4 vs Southwest Stallions
Great game tonight. Lions win 10-5 against a very good Southwest Stallions team. After falling behind 3-1 early. The Lions rallied for a 6 run 3rd inning, powered by Cael Baker's 2nd HR of the season (a solo shot) to kick off the rally. Cameron pitched an inning of relief to pick up the win, his first decision of the year. Cameron is slated to start Saturday afternoon's division game against Olentangy at Academy Park @1:00. With the win the Lions record stands at 2-2.

Game #3 vs Central Ohio Sharks
What a perfect night for baseball Friday evening (Well almost). One bad inning with 3 errors did in the U10 Lions. Leading 3-1, 7 unearned runs wasted a great start on the mound by Luke Barber (4 innings and only 1 run and a very efecient 55 pitches with 7 strike outs). Luke also went deep in the bottom of the 6th for his second HR of the year. Lions lose 8-5 and drop to 1-2 on the year. Cameron was 0 for 2. Thursday at home against the Southwest Stallions at 6:15.

Sleep Study Update (Just for you Michele Kothe)
I guess you can get stats and a reading in a sleep study without going to sleep. I was very surprised to get a call from the Department of Sleep Medicine today. The lady said (As I laughed the entire time) that I slept for 20% of the night and I stopped breathing 15 times. I said, "but I never fell asleep". She said, "Yes it says that here". So now I get 3 Lunesta pills and get to take one each night two nights before I go back on 4/30 and then take one that night also. JOY! I hope I can get 30 wires off of me this time. More cool robot looking pictures to come!!

Lions 35 Columbus Longhorns 2
Yes the Lions U10 travel team won their game 35-2 in 4 innings yesterday against the Columbus Longhorns. While these kids had really cool uniforms (they look like they were straight out of Austin, Texas), they are going to have a long year on the field. As soon as Cory Sparks hit a 2 run HR in the first inning, you could see their confidence drop. We played 4 innings and pitched 4 kids. 3 of them struck out the side. They only managed one hit while the Lions banged out 22. Joining Cory with a tape measure shot HR (had to go at least 250), was Cael Baker. Cameron went 3-4 with 4 RBI and 4 runs scored. Next up, Central Ohio Sharks on Wednesday at Academy Park.

Game #1 vs Eastside Irish 4/4/09
Opening day. After driving to play the Eastside Irish at their place and seeing their crap fields (unplayable), we drove back to Gahanna and played at our field and let them be the home team. Pitching struggled, we walked 14 batters. Luke Barber crushed his first HR of the season. Tough loss though 17-14. The kids did not quit when we were down 10-5. We came back and tied it up, but the walks continued to dig us in holes. We had 9 hits and played alright in the field. Cameron was 0 for 2 at the plate with a walk and a run scored. We have a scrimmage scheduled for Tuesday, but it is supposed to drop back into the 30's again Monday and Tuesday. Looks like we will have to wait until next Saturday for our next game against the Columbus Longhorns.
