Game 20 vs Columbus Sharks

A battle for 1st place in the division as the Lions battled the Columbus Sharks at Academy Park. The rain held off mostly (except for a 10 minute delay in the 4th inning). The Sharks were sparked by an error in the first and second and jumped out to a 6-1 lead. The lone Lions run to that point was Cael Baker's 6th HR of the season. Jackson wolf gave up the 6 runs in 2 1/3 innings (0 earned). The Lions chipped away at the 6-1 lead with 1 in the 3rd, 2 in the 4th and took the lead with the bottom of the order leading the way to 4 run 5th to take the lead. Luke Barber shut the Sharks down the last 3 2/3 innings allowing 0 runs striking out 6. Lions win 8-6 and up their record to 13-7, 5-1 in the division. Cameron was 1 for 3 with 2 rbi and 2 sb's. Game 19 vs Pickerington Predators

After lightning delays pushed the start back over an hour. The Lions played their 4th game of Dublin memorial tournament against the Pickerington Predators. A close game all the way was highlighted by a tape measure shot to center by Luke Barber, his 7th of the season. 4 runs scored in the top of the 6th by the Predators turned out to be the final blow. Lions go down 13-9 and finish the tourney 3-1 and tied for 5th place out of 16 teams.

Game 17 Vs Carmel Pups (IN) & Game 18 vs Cannon McMillan Wolfpack (PA)

I have never been more proud of a team I have coached than I was today. 2 games right in the middle of the day in heat back to back (12:30 and 2:45). First up was Carmel Pups from Carmel, Indiana. This game was over quick 5 runs in the first two innings lead to a 3 1/2 inning run rule 16-6. Jackson picked up the win going 3 innings, with Cory pitching the last inning. Cameron was 1 for 1 with a walk. Next up was Cannon McMillan out of the Pittsburgh area. We rode Cory's arm for 5 innings. He pitched awesome! Only giving up 3 runs. Game 15 vs Upper Arlington

A heated 2nd division game in as many days. Upper Arlington jumped out 4-0 in the top of the first and the Lions answered with 4 in the bottom half. Back and forth and a 7 run 5th for Arlington was the key. Luke Barber's 2 HR's and 5 RBI were not enough as the Lions droped their first division game 15-11. Cameron pitched well in his one innning of work in the 6th. The Lions stand 9-6 overall now with a 4-1 record in the division. Next up is the Dublin Memorial Day Tournament with game one Friday evening against the Dublin Green Sox.

Game 14 @ Westerville

Back to my stomping grounds for a division game against the Westerville Wildcats. The offense was clicking again, and the Lions ran away with the game 16-8. Cameron had a single and then two errors on the play and he was able to walk home. Hopefully the sign of the slump coming to an end. Next game Tuesday night against Upper Arlington.

Game 11 vs Hilliard Panthers

A gorgeous night for baseball. The Lions jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first after Jackson shut down the Panthers 1 2 3. Hilliard was a very good bunting team and our boys had not seen the likes of that yet. After a trying inning in the top of the second, the game was tied 5-5. Gahanna scratched across another run in the bottom half to take the lead for good 6-5. Cael Baker went deep for the 4th time on the year with a solo shot in the 3rd. Luke Barber followed in the 5th with his 3rd blast of the year. The Lions pulled out a 10-8 victory to up their record to 6-5. Big division game Saturday at home against New Albany. Cameron is starting on the mound.

Game 10 @ Olentangy Braves

Another real nice area. Big houses.... NO FREAKIN FENCE! Slow start by the Lions found them in a 0-6 hole. They kept clawing got back to within 5 going into the last inning, and what an exciting inning it was. We scored 6 to take a 12-11 lead only to have Olentangy plate 2 in the bottom half to lose 13-12. The Lions now stand at 5-5 overall, 3-1 in league, 2-0 in the conference, and 1-0 in the division. Next up, at Conference game with the Hilliard Panthers on Thursday at Academy Park.

Rays vs Mariners

Griffin's first game tonight as his Rays battled the Mariners. He is playing in the A Major division also called half and half. The coaches still pitch to them the first three innings and then the kids pitch to each other the last three. I was pretty nervous when Griff faced a kid pitching the first time, and what happens? He gets plunked in the arm. Just a pained look and off to first he ran (That's my boy!!) He finished 3 for 3 with a double and a nice defensive play at second base. The Rays won 14-6. Next up is the Reds on Wednesday!! WAY TO GO GRIFFIN!!

Grove City Tournament

A tough day at Windsor Park made tougher by a tough draw. Two of the better U10 teams in the state were placed in our pool. First up after a rained out day Friday and delays on Saturday. We finally got on the field around 5:00 against the Cincinnati Stix. Cael Baker went deep in the top of the first and after 2 innings the Lions led 2-1. A very costly dropped fly ball in left open the flood gates for 4 unearned runs and paved the way for the 8-2 loss. Jackson Wolf and Cael Baker both pitched great but the Lions only managed 3 hits.

Next up was Central Ohio Select. Hitting was suspect again. Pitching was pretty good, but the defense was just not there. The Lions were jumped on and fell in 4 innings 23-3.

The third pool game was scheduled for 8:00am Sunday morning. The Westerville Wildcats however did not want to come back for a meaningless game (their words). Gahanna was awarded a 6-0 forfeit victory but did not qualify for the elimination round.

Next game @Olentangy on Tuesday
